Dr Brad TownendDr. Karen Tiuseco is a general ophthalmologist from the Philippines and a Diplomate of the Philippine Board of Ophthalmology with over a decade of subspecialty experience in treating glaucoma. Karen is highly skilled in cataract and glaucoma surgeries, including trabeculectomy, insertion of glaucoma drainage devices, and minimally-invasive glaucoma surgery. 

Karen obtained her medical degree from the University of the Philippines in Manila before finishing her ophthalmology training in the Philippine General Hospital where she served as the Chief Resident in her final year. She then underwentfellowship training in glaucoma in the same institution before moving to Sydney in 2015 where she completed 2 more years of extensive glaucoma training in Westmead Hospital. Karen has since obtained further general ophthalmology experience in Australia as the senior registrar in Westmead Hospital and Concord Repatriation General Hospital in Sydney. She is on the path of acquiring Fellowship to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. 

Fluent in both English and Tagalog (Filipino), Karen ensures seamless communication with her diverse patient base. She believes in the importance of building strong-patient relationships based on trust, empathy, and open dialogue. 

Outside of her professional pursuits, Karen finds joy in the culinary arts, indulging her love of cooking, baking, food styling and photography. She and her husband have made a home in the Central Coast and enjoy leisurely morning walks with their dog, Roscoe.
